What is FL Studio?

FL Studio is a full-featured music production environment capable of multi-track audio recording, sequencing and mixing for the creation of professional quality music tracks. With VST/DX hosting, 32-Bit internal mixing, advanced MIDI, DX and ReWire support no musical style will be beyond your reach. Songs or loops can be exported to .wav, .mp3, .ogg or .mid format.

Main Features

  • Pristine audio, professional sound quality (32-Bit floating point internal processing).
  • Sophisticated interpolation algorithms (hermite, sinc) separate settings for real-time playback & rendering audio to disk.
  • Supports DirectSound and ASIO for low latency audio output and audio input recording.
  • Open architecture allowing third-party instruments (enhanced proprietary FL instruments standard, VSTi , DXi2 & Buzz ) and effects (enhanced proprietary FL effects standard, VST, VST2, DirectX & Buzz).
  • Ability to function as a VSTi, DXi and a ReWire client.
  • Ability to host ReWire clients itself.
  • Advanced sequencing methods allowing quick creation of realistic drum loops (step sequencing grid) and composing complex instrumentals (advanced Piano roll, arpeggiator, keyboard tracking, real-time gate).
  • Unique note properties morphing ability (pitch, cutoff, resonance, panning).
  • Most powerful and flexible Piano roll of any sequencer.
  • Live multi-track recording of audio, control movements & integrated automation events editor.
  • Multi-segment automation clips with unlimited complexity and integrated LFO unit.
  • Automated control over parameters by using special controller plugins.
  • Advanced mixer: 104 mixer tracks (99 Insert, 4 Send & 1 Master) supporting up to 8 plugin FX per track.
  • Send any mixer track to any other track and create mixer chains of virtually unlimited complexity.
  • Multi-track recording with ASIO input support (record MIDI, vocals, etc).
  • Integrated parametric equalizer, volume and panning for each mixer track.
  • Sidechain facilities where supported by effects.
  • Many high-quality integrated instruments: Autogun (exploratory additive synth), WaveTraveller (audio bending synth), Sampler, Simsynth live (subtractive synthesis), TS404 (the popular bassline engine), 3xOSC (subsynth), Drumsynth Live (drum synthesis), Plucked! (plucked strings), MIDI Out, DX10 (FM synth), Scratcher (turntable emulator), Wasp (& Wasp XT) and more...
  • A full set of high-precision mastering and special effects filters: 2 reverbs, 3 compressors, 2 parametric equalizers, 2 graphic equalizers, distortion, phaser, flanger, bass boost, delay line and more. Sidechain support where applicable.
  • Advanced Playlist & full-featured audio tracks.
  • Click removal & volume ramping to avoid pops.
  • Imports *.wav, *.ogg, *.mp3, *.mid, *.rex, *.syn (SimSynth 1 & 2), *.ds (DrumSynth), etc. as sample formats.
  • Exports audio to 16-Bit, 24-Bit or 32-Bit *.wav file, *.mp3 & *.ogg.
  • MIDI remote controlling of most parameters (VST plugins also supported).
  • Import MIDI sequences and controller events.
  • Export MIDI notes & controller events to a standard MIDI file.
  • One of the best and most comprehensive in-line manuals of any program. We know no-one likes to read the manual, so we make it a useful place to be.
  • Context sensitive help by pressing the F1 key, while running FL Studio, the help will open at the correct page for the currently focused item.
  • Internal hot-linking of all program features related to the current topic. If you are asked to 'see page X' it will be hot-linked. Fast, efficient and easy.
  • Searchable text, with key-word and key-topic searches based on common language questions asked by real program users on the Image-Line forums and Technical Support lines.
